In both cases, the nervous system is usually involved. Whether it is head trauma (which can cause severe headaches, dizziness, memory loss, etc.), neck and\/or back injuries (which may cause damage to nerves exiting the spinal cord), or compressed nerves due to repetitive stress, the nervous system is directly involved.<\/p>\n<p>In all these cases, patients must be referred to a competent, highly qualified Doctor of Neurology (neurologist). A neurologist can provide a comprehensive evaluation so that an accurate diagnosis can be determined and a proper treatment regimen can be implemented for our patients to achieve wellness.<\/p>\n<p>A neurologist is a doctor with specialized training in diagnosing and treating pathology of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles. Most of the time, a primary care doctor refers patient to a neurologist if they have symptoms that indicate a neurological condition.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mollins works very closely with Board Certified Neurologists to refer his patients that have injuries resulting from accidents. Some of the symptoms that may result from injuries sustained in accidents that require evaluation by a neurologist are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Chronic pain<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness<\/li>\n<li>Numbness or tingling<\/li>\n<li>Weakness<\/li>\n<li>Problems with movement<\/li>\n<li>Vision problems<\/li>\n<li>Seizures<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty thinking<\/li>\n<li>Sleep problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the initial examination with our highly qualified referred neurologist, you can expect a thorough review of your health history (specifically understanding and documenting how the accident occurred). The doctor will perform a comprehensive neurological examination that will test mental status, function of the cranial nerves, including vision, strength, coordination, reflexes and sensation. Further tests (i.e. MRI, EEG, NCV\/EMG and VNG) may be needed to confirm a diagnosis and will ultimately guide you into therapy and appropriate management of your condition.<\/p>\n<p>All of our referred neurologists are both Board Certified as well as Workers Compensation Certified.
