Chiropractic Treatment of Injuries

In his 25 plus years in private practice, Dr. Mollins has successfully treated countless patients that have been injured in accidents. These accidents include automobile accidents, work accidents, construction accidents, slip and falls, and many other types of accidents. By utilizing his knowledge and skill as a chiropractor, he has been extremely effective in alleviating the disabling consequences associated with injuries that result from accidents.
Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of 
mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. Chiropractic is based upon the understanding that good health depends upon a normally functioning nervous system. Chiropractors focus on the correction of the skeletal and neurological systems of the human body resulting in proper function, elimination of pain and improved health. Unlike drugs or surgery, which focuses on symptoms , chiropractic addresses the underlying causes that have reduced the body to a weakened , pained state. Once these problems have been identified and corrected, pain is eliminated. More importantly, the body works properly.

Before treating any patient involved in an accident, a proper and thorough evaluation must be performed. Dr. Mollins will initially take a very detailed history. This history will include careful details on how the accident happened. Quite often, knowing the mechanics of how an accident occurred can aid in determining a proper diagnosis. Then Dr. Mollins will perform a comprehensive physical examination which consists of a complete neurological and orthopedic evaluation. He may also utilize radiographic studies (x-ray or mri studies) to aid in the diagnosis.
Once a working diagnosis is established, treatment can now begin. Treatment will consist of spinal manipulation (also called an adjustment). A chiropractic adjustment is performed using the doctor’s hands over the area of the spine that has lack of mobility. By applying a gently but specific force Dr. Mollins is able to regain and re-establish range of motion. Once range of motion is improved, muscle spasm will diminish and so will pain. Providing a series of chiropractic adjustments over a period of time may eventually restore proper function to the injured patient.
Chiropractic has proven to be an effective, conservative method of treatment for those patients injured in accidents. Dr. Mollins also works very closely with referred specialists (orthopedists, neurologists, pain management, etc.) to aid in the proper care of patients injured in accidents. Along with Dr. Mollins, all referred specialists are workers compensation certified and experts in the diagnosis, treatment, and documentation of patients injured in accidents.
