Here are some important things to remember if you are in a car accident while on the job:

1. Stay put until police arrive.

This means the vehicle should stay exactly where it came to a stop during the accident. The only time you would move a vehicle is if someone in the vehicle is in danger and it requires moving the vehicle to help them. If the vehicle(s) must be moved, use your phone to take pictures of their location before touching the cars.

2. Get license plate numbers of all vehicles involved.

This is essential, especially if you are a passenger in a vehicle whose insurance company will pay all of your medical bills and lost earnings. But, if this isn’t possible at the scene of the automobile accident, be sure to obtain the information later. Remember, safety comes first

3. Have the police document your version of what happened.

If the police don’t arrive on the scene, call them and have them come down. Give a responding officer your version of the accident. It’s suggested that you ask the officer to recount the other parties statement so that you can address any disagreement.
