Work Injuries and Chiropractic

Every year, 3.3 million Americans are injured on the job. These work injuries are not only debilitating, they prevent workers from actively engaging in their personal and professional lives. While some work injuries are a result of a traumatic accident, others can be caused by repetitive injury or overexertion.

Dr. Jeff Mollins, has been practicing in downtown Brooklyn for over 25 years. He specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and dr-jeff-mollinsdocumentation of work related injuries. Dr. Mollins is well aware of the potentially catastrophic effects a work injury can have on a person as well as that person’s family. Dr. Mollins recommends that you see him as soon as possible after a work injury. Typically, the sooner you see your physician after an injury and begin treatment, the sooner your chances for recovery. If you wait or delay treatment you may risk further injury and pain. Fortunately, conservative treatment like chiropractic will often provide effective, lasting relief after a work injury. Dr. Mollins has helped thousands of patients get back to work as quickly and as safely as possible.

Here are some of the more common work injuries that are treated in our office in Brooklyn:

  1. Back and Neck Injuries-Employees in industrial work (factory work, construction work, etc.) place significant strain on their spines every day, so it’s no surprise that spinal injuries of the neck and back are some of the most common occupational injuries. In addition, traumatic, on site accidents happen regularly causing injury. But construction workers aren’t the only ones vulnerable to neck and back injuries. Office employees and service workers can also develop back and neck pain as a result of improper ergonomics, poor posture, or overexertion.
  2. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Repetitive Stress Injuries-Long hours of typing or working on an assembly line require repeated and prolonged flexing of the wrist. This repetitive motion can place harmful pressure on the median nerve that runs through your wrist and forearm. After years of working with these repetitive motions, employees often develop carpal tunnel syndrome due to the compression of the median nerve.
  3. Headache After Work Injury-Headache is a common work injury and can result from a number of causes including stress, muscle tension, overexertion, and poor posture. Some patients with neck injuries can develop cervicogenic headaches when the nerves in the cervical spine are irritated.
  4. Other Common Work Injuries-Patients injured at work may also sustain bursitis, tendinitis, rotator cuff tears (shoulder injuries), and tingling and/or weakness in the legs and arms.

Dr. Mollins is extremely experienced in treating all of these work related injuries. Dr. Mollins also works very closely with a group of referred medical specialists (orthopedists, neurologists, radiologists, etc.), so if he is unable to treat your problem or your particular injury requires supplemental medical care, all medical specialists are prepared to help you at a moment’s notice. So please remember, if you are injured at work, see Dr. Mollins immediately.
